He died 9 days later and any hopes of Pete returning to baseball ended. There was no turning back since the man who agreed to reconsider his status immediately departed this world forever. Some people blame Pete for his premature death. Bart Giamatti died of a heart attack that was a result of many other comorbitidies including smoking and being overweight. No matter what, this terminally ended the era of this saga.

Pete Rose re-signed the back page of this agreement “Sorry I bet on baseball” 35 years later. 3 weeks before he passed away on September 30, 2024. His demise was after many years of hope then despair for him. He fought this matter to the end and promoted the game he loved to the day before he died by attending a baseball autograph event in Nashville Tennessee. He flew back to Las Vegas and died in his home the next day.
