The Pete Rose MLB Banishment Agreement Replica with Sorry I Bet on Baseball Confession Autograph
Just 3 weeks before Pete Rose passed away, he agreed to re-sign the signature page of the most controversial agreement in modern baseball history - The 5 page banishment that ended his career and future access to the game of baseball.
Originally created by MLB Commissioner Bart Giamatti. This agreement was made in good faith with the intent to put an end to a long saga of the issue of Pete betting on baseball games.
This document was the unfortunate compromise that Pete and his legal representation agreed to because Bart convinced Pete that he would not be found to have been removed from baseball for "gambling on the game". Some people believed that this was what Pete needed to here and he signed this agreement with the best of intentions to be "reinstated" to the game and the only profession that he knew. He accomplished some records that will never be broken. He believed in the verbal promises of the future changing for him.
The document clearly states that there would be “no finding”. Bart Giamatti proudly announced in the press conference after the agreement was signed that he believed "Pete bet on baseball". He died 9 days later and any hopes of Pete returning to baseball ended. There was no turning back since the man who agreed to reconsider his status immediately departed this world forever. Some people blame Pete for his premature death. Bart Giamatti died of a heart attack that was a result of many other comorbitidies including smoking and being overweight. No matter what, this terminally ended the era of this saga.
Pete Rose re-signed the back page of this agreement “Sorry I bet on baseball” 35 years later. 3 weeks before he passed away on September 30, 2024. His demise was after many years of hope then despair for him. He fought this matter to the end and promoted the game he loved to the day before he died by attending a baseball autograph event in Nashville Tennessee. He flew back to Las Vegas and died in his home the next day.
This is an incredible collectible that will be treasured through the ages. To be able to the read the agreement that certainly evokes many thoughts and conversations about this matter and his inability to ever return to the game he played so intensely and with more passion than anyone of the modern era, is to be forever memorialized in this presentation.
To think that just 3 weeks before he passed, he decided to sign this agreement with his apology, was a contrition of final apology for his ultimate mistake.
What an amazing piece of history to own for your collection. Authentic and memorialized forever in this brass embossed book binding. Pictures of Pete signing the back pages are included with artifact. Authenticity guarantee for life by CEI Sports INC.
